Théâtre, conférence "L’Amour de l’art" avec la Comédie Itinérante de Valence

In a mock lecture, actress and director Stéphanie Aflalo, along with an assistant, either Antoine Thiollier or Gaëtan Vourc’h, play the role of art experts, offering their commentary on a series of masterpieces in a learned tone. But their interpretation of the works quickly veers off course. The Flemish masters, they claim, “have a message for both the left and the right,” and still life paintings are “a reminder that we are all going to die.” And if the paintings don’t actually convey any clear message, never mind: these self-proclaimed experts will find a way to make them “speak” anyway! Beneath its seemingly quirky surface and its title borrowed from sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, “The Love of Art” is, above all, a delightful celebration of art for all audiences. It’s a joyful and unconventional way to explore the role of aesthetic pleasure in our lives: what would we truly be willing to sacrifice for the love of art?
