Fête du cheval de trait

On Sunday August 17, the draft horse will be in the spotlight. The Union of draft horse breeders’ unions is dedicating a party to this animal, which represents a real living heritage for the Ardèche department. The objective is to highlight this powerful and quiet emblematic animal, from the countryside of yesteryear. Many activities will be offered throughout the day: horse-drawn carriage rides, market for local producers and craftsmen, exhibitions of agricultural equipment, farriery demonstrations and breeding competitions for fillies, mares and stallions. Thus, spectators will be able to admire the most beautiful specimens of the breed department: Comtois, Ardennais and Baudet du Poitou. A rich program to introduce visitors to the beauty and the different uses of the draft horse.
Admission and the activities offered for young and old are free. A refreshment bar and a catering area (cold and hot) will allow you to eat on site. Forty horses, from all over the department, will be present on this day.
As usual, they will be judged according to their models and their paces. The best horses will be selected for regional and national competitions.
