Special 90th anniversary of the discovery of the Grotto - The historical tour

Starting at the natural entrance, this tour celebrates the 90th anniversary of the discovery by Robert de Joly.

Forget 2016 and join Robert de Joly, inventor of the Grotto, one morning in August 1935. He had heard that “there was a hole to be explored around here.

A hole so deep you can’t even hear what you throw down there land…”.
During this visit, you are invited to travel back in time to the first exploration and discover, alongside one of Robert de Joly’s team-mates, this new cave of extraordinary dimensions…

Stéphane, your guide and caver, draws on the writings of the inventor of Aven d’Orgnac to help you feel the extraordinary emotions and wonder of the first exploration in 1935.

Of course, you won’t be entering the cave from the end of an old-fashioned rope ladder, but via the staircase that was later fitted out for the public…!

From 04/07 to 29/08/2025 on Friday between 6 pm and 8 pm.
