Conference: The archaeological heritage of Balazuc
Information
Description
While the image of medieval Balazuc, majestically perched above the Ardèche River with its ramparts, Romanesque church, fortified houses, and cobbled streets, is familiar to its inhabitants and the many visitors passing through, who would suspect that the territory of Baladunum holds much older archaeological remains? From the Neanderthal man of the Barasses cave, through the Neolithic necropolises of the Gras plateau, the Iron Age fortress opposite the village, or even the Gallo-Roman villa of Les Salles, Léo Lacheray, a passionate researcher who took his first steps as an archaeologist in the commune, invites you on a journey through the millennia, to discover…and to protect an exceptional heritage!
