St\u00e9phanie, a donkey breeder since 2017, has gradually built up her herd of 30 donkeys, which she raises on the Coiron plateau in the Ard\u00e8che region, between Darbres and primarily in Berz\u00e8me.<\/p>\n
“In the herd, each individual has its role. There are the sturdy ones, good for short or long-distance hikes; others, with their calm and gentle nature, are used for animal-assisted therapy with vulnerable or disabled individuals; and then there are the largest and strongest, for carrying heavy loads. And the next generation! A few young donkeys that I’m training and that will stay with the herd to work and eventually take over from the older ones.<\/p>\n
Then there are the mothers who provide me with their milk during milking season. It was during the weaning of a foal that I discovered that milking is a moment of true sharing, where a relationship of trust develops between the mother, the breeder, and her offspring.” I then realized it was possible!
