At Villeneuve de Berg, you'll be strucked by the architectural richness of the city. The old buildings, royal architecture, mansions from the XVIth century and the old prison are numerous in the city. It has to be said that Villeneuve de Berg was, in the XVIIth century, the administrative and financial capital of the Bas-Vivarais. Two major characters stand out of Villeneuve’s history: Olivier de Serres (1st French agronomist) and Antoine Court (restorer of French Protestantism).
